In its efforts to ensure that students of Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan become one of the best in Secondary Schools in Nigeria, members of the 1981 Set have vowed to consolidate on the gains recorded on its human capital development programme.

It would be recalled that for over a session now, the 1981 Set started special coaching classes for the SS3 students. The programme which is all-inclusive involves making special payment for the teachers to engage the students after normal daily academic programme. Students are fed during the programme making them to have invested over a million naira on the programme.

The impressive outcome of the project saw students in the school coming out in flying colours in the last NECO Examination. For record purposes, out of the 57 students presented by the School for the NECO examination, 55 students made credits in more than five (5) subjects including English and Mathematics. This was unprecedented in recent time!

The last meeting of the Set held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 reviewed the successes recorded while it was resolved that the journey has just started- Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan must regain her lost academic glory.

In his brief comment at the meeting, the National President, Grand Distinguished Lagelite Prof. Olufemi Omisore, FNITP, JP who was represented by the National Secretary, Distinguished Lagelite Wale Adeoye commended the leadership and members of the Set for their unparalleled contributions in both physical and human developments. He thanked the set for the renovation of the dilapidated  one-storey building in the School which gulped them millions of naira. He urged them to continue their good gestures aimed at transforming the School.

The occasion was used by the School Principal, Mr. Tope Onipede to formally announce his disengagement from service. He thanked the set for the support he has enjoyed from the old boys family.
